Two people rescued near the HRBT after being knocked from their boat

A construction crew on a nearby boat was able to pull them from the water. Both people were taken to the hospital.

NORFOLK, Va. — Two people are in the hospital after they fell overboard from their boat near the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel.

According to Norfolk Fire-Rescue, two people were on a pleasure craft near the bridge-tunnel Friday night when their boat struck some kind of pipe that was in the water.

The impact knocked them into the water. A construction company crew who was on another nearby boat immediately responded and were able to pull both people out of the water.

They've been taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.
