Summer is the most dangerous time of the year for teen drivers. Here's how to stay safe.

Memorial Day to Labor Day is designated as the "100 Deadliest Days" of the summer according to AAA Tidewater. New teen drivers on the road are especially vulnerable.

NORFOLK, Va. — Memorial Day to Labor Day is designated as the "100 Deadliest Days" of the summer according to AAA Tidewater.

New teen drivers on the road are often involved in these deadly summer crashes.

AAA has tips for keeping teens safe during these dangerous months and year-round.

They recommend eliminating trips without purpose and limiting drives to only essential trips for the first year of driving. Limiting passengers is also a way to lessen the chance of dangerous crashes as each additional teen passenger in the vehicle increases crash rates.

They also recommend restricting night driving, teaching kids how to drive, and establishing parent-teen driving agreements that include rules about night driving, passengers, access to the car, and more.

AAA offers tips and info about teen driving on their site. It's up to everyone on the road to keep each other safe.
