NORFOLK, Va. — The City of Norfolk announced a "major rehabilitation project" will take place on the Shore Drive Bridge in East Ocean View.
Construction was scheduled to begin Monday, and is expected to be completed by May 2025. While it takes place -- on weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with weekend work only as needed -- there will be single-lane and alternating lane closures.
The project is taking place to "address key structural updates and ensure long-term durability for one of the City’s vital transportation routes," the City said. The main work will be done on replacing chipped concrete on the bridge structure and on the roadway, new lane striping and pavement marking, as well as waterproofing the concrete.
The City said motorists should plan ahead to avoid delays.
