Officials: Granby High School 'cautionary lockdown' lifted after reports of a student with a gun

The lockdown was initiated after school officials believed a student had a gun. The student was searched by police, and no gun was found.

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk dispatch confirmed Granby High School went into a modified lockdown on Thursday morning.

Norfolk police said around 8:50 p.m. school staff alerted the police to a student allegedly in possession of a firearm at Granby High School.

Police said the school immediately placed the school on a precautionary lock-down and the student was detained by police. The student was searched, and no firearm was found.

The lockdown was lifted, and the school resumed its normal operations.
