NORFOLK, Va. — Fried chicken lovers could have a new fast food option in Norfolk's Ghent neighborhood.
There are plans in motion to put a Raising Cane's on Monticello Avenue by 16th Street, which is right next to the Chick-fil-A.
That entire block has been an empty lot for years after the old Hampton Roads Transit building was demolished in 2016.
There's plenty of room for additional businesses on that stretch of land alongside the Raising Cane's, and according to city records, the plans would also bring two more sit-down restaurants to that block.
The names of those restaurants are unclear, but we know one would be a breakfast spot and the other would be a burger joint.
The Norfolk Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the Raising Cane's plan on Thursday, May 23, at 2:30 p.m. Meetings are held in Norfolk's City Hall building.
