'Plant Norfolk' nursery closing its doors

"With the ever-changing plant market, economy, and construction [on Granby Street], the hurdles were more than we could handle right now," the owners said.

NORFOLK, Va. — A local favorite plant nursery announced it's closing its doors in Norfolk

Plant Norfolk first opened in 2022 in the Neon District, with everything from traditional houseplants to rare botanical finds.

On Monday, the owners posted on social media that they decided to close, calling it the right decision for their family.

"With the ever-changing plant market, economy, and construction [on Granby Street], the hurdles were more than we could handle right now," they said in the posting.

The announcement comes as construction is ramping up on a planned years-long project that aims to improve Granby Street in the Neon District. The city’s project includes reconstructing some roads and sidewalks, along with other infrastructure improvements.
