Several displaced, cat rescued in Norfolk house fire

The residents are being assisted by the Red Cross, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to the scene of a house fire Friday morning, officials say. 

Firefighters arrived at the home, located in the 800 block of Lexington Street, just after 9:30 a.m. and saw visible fire and smoke coming from the kitchen.

The fire was under control by 9:45 a.m. and no one was hurt. 

A pet cat was rescued during that time and given medical help at the scene.

As a result of the fire, three adults and one child were displaced. 

The residents are being assisted by the Red Cross, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
