Pedestrian dies after crash in Norfolk

Police said neither alcohol nor speed contributed to the crash.

NORFOLK, Va. — A 44-year-old man has died after a pedestrian crash in Norfolk Tuesday morning, police said.

Norfolk police said that they are investigating a crash in which a pedestrian in the 3400 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard was hit. They received the call reporting the incident at around 3:55 a.m.

The pedestrian, Anthony Lambert of Norfolk, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors told 13News Now the investigation centered on a ramp on East Virginia Beach Boulevard. Diana Clark, who lives right across the street, said a single truck was parked at the top of ramp for hours.

"It was like a commercial truck that was sitting up there and then a towing truck came and then removed the truck," said Clark.

Police said neither alcohol nor speed contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

The collision closed all lanes which have since reopened.
