Legendary ODU and Randolph-Macon basketball coach, Paul Webb, dies at 94

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame said that Paul Webb passed away Friday morning. He retired in 1985 as the nation's 6th winningest coach, according to his bio.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame said on social media that Paul Webb passed away Friday morning at the age of 94.

Webb was a 1993 Virginia Sports Hall of Fame inductee and a legendary basketball head coach at Old Dominion University and Randolph-Macon College.

He was a native of Petersburg, Virginia, and retired in 1985 as the country's 6th winningest collegiate basketball coach, according to his Hall of Fame bio. He coached at Randolph-Macon from 1956 to 1975 and at the Old Dominion from 1975 to 1985.

The 1976-77 ODU men's basketball team won 22 straight games under his leadership, setting a Virginia and a national record for the longest winning streak.

The Hall of Fame in their post went on to say, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Webb family."
