NORFOLK, Va. —
Sitting on the banks of the Elizabeth River, Harbor Park is home to the Norfolk Tides baseball stadium and an Amtrak station.
The new Norfolk Casino is expected to take up much of the currently-available parking between the stadium and the train station.
Kelly Straub, a spokesperson for the city of Norfolk, said all parking lots, except lot B, will be available to use while casino construction occurs.
For Tides games where larger crowds are expected, they’re recommending parking at a city garage and taking The Tide light rail to the park.
During the planned casino construction, Straub said Amtrak customers can park in lot E at Harbor Park. She noted casino developers, the Pamunkey Indian tribe and Boyd Ggaming, are also planning to provide a shuttle from the lot to the Amtrak station while remaining accessible for drop-offs.
When complete, the parking garage attached to the casino will have 103 dedicated Amtrak parking spots.
Construction on the casino is set to start in the next few months, with a temporary casino scheduled to open about a year from now, and the full casino slated to open in late 2027.
