NORFOLK, Va. — A pedestrian riding a Lime scooter was injured after being struck by the Tide light rail train Saturday evening.
The accident happened about 6:10 p.m. at the crossing near Colley and West Brambleton avenues, according to Norfolk Police Department spokeswoman Noel Lipieko. She said the pedestrian suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
The preliminary investigation determined the Lime scooter was stuck under the train in the aftermath of the accident, but the pedestrian was not.
Thomas Becher with Hampton Roads Transit, which operates the Tide, said no passengers were on board the train at the time of the incident. Normal train service was restored. Becher said the patient was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital.
The aftermath was witnessed by quite a number of people, as many pedestrians were on their way to Norfolk’s Grand Illumination Parade.
