NORFOLK, Va. — CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story reported Jahari George was one of several people shot on the night of Sept. 2, 2023, based on the number of charges listed for one of the shooting suspects. However, prosecutors tell 13News Now one that suspect, Camari Warren, is actually charged in relation to multiple shootings that happened on different dates: the George shooting on Sept. 2 and three counts of malicious wounding in a different shooting near NSU campus on Aug. 18, 2023. Only George was shot in the incident on Sept. 2, according to prosecutors.
New court documents reveal more charges are filed in the shooting death of a Norfolk State University student earlier this year.
Three men are behind bars charged in connection to the death of NSU student Jahari George. Norfolk Police said officers found George shot inside a car on Gate House Road on September 2nd, not far from campus.
Last week, police arrested Marquas Gregg, Camari Warren, and Cameron Brown. They face second-degree murder conspiracy and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Newly filed court documents say Warren was also involved in a separate shooting that injured four other people back on August 18. In that case, two suspects had shot three people. One was a bystander and two other people were in a car. Records say one suspect was also injured and a detective spotted that person in the hospital.
That detective later identified Warren through surveillance video.
In George's shooting, a detective said the victim had been inside a vehicle full of people that was shot up by the suspects. According to investigators, one of the suspects, Brown, tried to run away before his arrest following this shooting.
According to documents, the Richmond Fugitive Task Force found Marquas Gregg working at a UHaul in Richmond. Gregg is a student at Virginia Union where he is on a football scholarship. Gregg told investigators he's been in Richmond for three years and doesn't go back home because he doesn't want to be involved in bad things.
