NORFOLK, Va. — A new policy for providing free meals to all children is now in effect, Norfolk Public Schools (NPS) announced.

Each school day, enrolled students will be provided breakfast and lunch for free as a part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. Parents are not required to submit a meal application form.

All Norfolk Public Schools participate in the Community Eligibility Provision as implemented under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.

NPS encourages schools that host programs or activities after the instructional day to participate in the At-Risk Child and Adult Care Foodservice Program. The federal program provides snacks or an evening meal for free to students
