Norfolk parking garages opening to residents ahead of tidal flooding

The York Street garage, ODU's Garages A/B, and Norfolk Public School parking lots will be made available to the general public beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- With tidal flooding expected from the Nor'easter off our coast this weekend, the City of Norfolk has opened its York Street parking garage for residents to move their vehicles to high ground.

The garage will be open at 6 p.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Monday, March 5. The garage is located at 215 West York Street. Drivers will take a ticket on entry and the exit gates will be open.

In addition to the York Street garage, Old Dominion University will open Garages A/B on W. 43rd Street and Garage E at West 49th and Bluestone to the general public, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. Vehicles must be removed by Monday morning.

Norfolk Public Schools will also open school parking lots to the general public at 6 p.m. Friday. Vehicles must be removed by Monday morning.
