NORFOLK, Va. — One person was hurt and several others displaced following a house fire in Norfolk on Thursday morning, officials said.
Norfolk Fire-Rescue said crews were called to the 1600 block of Modoc Avenue around 10:43 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a home's second-floor bedroom and its roof. They were able to make their way inside with hose lines and extinguish the flames. It was called under control at 11:16.
One of the home's residents was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Four adults total, as well as a dog, were displaced by the fire.
Norfolk Fire-Rescue said the Red Cross will assist the displaced residents. No one else was hurt in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
