2 people and 2 dogs displaced after large house fire on Norfolk's Granby Street

Captain Stacy Himes says that firefighters were dispatched to the 5800 block of Granby Street for a report of a house fire around 7:45 a.m. on Friday.

NORFOLK, Va. — Two people and two dogs have been displaced from their home after a house fire in Norfolk, officials say.

Captain and Acting Battalion Chief Stacy Himes says that Norfolk Fire-Rescue firefighters were dispatched to the 5800 block of Granby Street for a report of a house fire around 7:45 a.m.

When firefighters got to the scene they found an active fire in the attached garage. Crews attacked the fire, but it spread to the home where contents in the home, especially in the attic, hindered the interior fire attack.

Firefighters were pulled out of the home and began a defensive exterior attack and the fire was extinguished. The fire was marked under control just before 9:20 a.m.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. Two residents and two dogs were displaced.
