NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk City Council is proposing the largest budget in city history. Members of the community can share their thoughts at a public hearing on Wednesday, April 10.
The proposed budget for Norfolk's 2025 fiscal year comes out to $1,973,779,865, or just shy of $2 billion.
The city said the budget's main focuses are on improving neighborhood safety and quality of life, addressing homelessness, mental illness and substance abuse, maintaining facilities, enhancing organizational effectiveness, and improving customer service.
Another large part of the budget is a potential tax rate relief.
