Two facing charges after stolen vehicle pursuit ends in a crash in Norfolk

Officers followed a suspected stolen car until the driver crashed in the 1800 block of East Brambleton Avenue, near the I-264 on-ramp.

NORFOLK, Va. — Two teenagers are facing charges after Norfolk police say they led officers on a chase that ended in a crash on Brambleton Avenue on Monday afternoon.

The Norfolk Police Department said officers spotted a stolen car in the Campostella area just before 2:30 p.m. Police tried to pull the car over, but the driver reportedly didn't stop.

Officers followed the car until the driver hit a curb and crashed in the 1800 block of East Brambleton Avenue, near the I-264 on-ramp. A tire from the car became detached in the crash and struck another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After a short chase on foot, all occupants inside the stolen car were taken into custody. The driver was unhurt but a passenger also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

On Tuesday, police announced 19-year-old Alana Bagley-Clayton had been charged with grand larceny, two counts of delinquency of a minor, child neglect, eluding police, and driving without a license. She is currently being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Police said a 17-year-old boy was also charged in connection to the incident.
