NORFOLK, Va. — The City of Norfolk announced last Friday that Barraud Park is closing for at least two years for renovations.
The city said on Facebook that the park is closed and they will not accept or issue any permits for special events going forward. Officials also explained that the park is enclosed with perimeter fencing in preparation for the renovation and remake.
"Individuals trying to enter the park with the patron fencing posted will be charged with trespassing," the city posted.
Many people in the comments of the post expressed concern about the reasons for the reconstruction and why it would take two years. Others disagreed and said the project is much needed to improve the park.
Norfolk City Council member, Danica Royster, linked to several resources that outline the plan and allow people to track the progress of Norfolk projects including the restoration of Barraud Park.
