Firefighter hurt battling house fire in Norfolk

A spokesperson for Norfolk Fire-Rescue said the firefighter suffered an unspecified injury before entering the home and is expected to be OK.

NORFOLK, Va. — A firefighter in Norfolk was hurt battling a residential fire on Tuesday morning.

Crews were called to the 700 block of B Avenue around 10:15 a.m. They arrived to find smoke coming from the side of the house and fire in the walls.

A spokesperson for Norfolk Fire-Rescue said the firefighter suffered an unspecified injury before entering the home. The firefighter was taken to the hospital and is expected to be alright.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, nor were there any pets inside. Any residents will be displaced due to the damage, however.
