A new partnership between Norfolk's Recreation, Parks and Open Space (RPOS) the Blocker Norfolk YMCA of South Hampton Roads and the Freemason Civic League will bring a new playground to the Freemason area of Norfolk.

Based on community input, a new playground will be developed on Dunmore Street.

“We are excited to introduce another playground for our community to enjoy in the City of Norfolk. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the Freemason Civic League and the Blocker Norfolk YMCA to serve our families downtown,” said Darrell Crittendon, Director of RPOS.

The new playground will be right next to the Blocker Norfolk YMCA located at 312 Bute Street. The Freemason playground will be fully accessible and designed for children aged 5 to 12.

The playground will feature a colorful nautical themed ship sailing on a sea of blue rubberized safety play surface. The design concept integrates with Norfolk’s identity as an urban waterfront city.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the playground on November 28th at 3:30 p.m.
