NORFOLK, Va. — More than 900 Dominion Energy customers were without power in Norfolk after an equipment problem occurred on Tuesday evening.

The lights went out just after 6:30 p.m. in an area of Brambleton Avenue stretching from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to near Harbor Park.

The outage didn't last long, with Dominion reporting service restored shortly before 8 p.m. The cause was a portion of underground power lines experiencing an equipment failure, Dominion spokeswoman Cherise Newsome said.

Traffic lights in the area, including along Brambleton Avenue, were affected. For drivers who may come across these intersections: when encountering a traffic light that is out, treat the intersection like a four-way stop.

You can report an outage or view current outages on Dominion Energy's website.
