NORFOLK, Va. — A new memorial will honor the legacy and life of a late Virginian-Pilot reporter, Sierra Jenkins.
Family and friends, along with Norfolk city officials, dedicated a bench and memorial on Charlotte Street.
In March 2022, Jenkins, 25, was one of three people killed after an argument led to a shooting outside of Chicho's Backstage and Pizza on Granby Street. In all, five people were shot.
Jenkins' loved ones have started an organization in her honor to advocate against gun violence as well as to provide scholarships to aspiring journalists in our area.
