NORFOLK, Va. — A man has been taken into custody following a barricade situation on Tuesday morning, the Norfolk Police Department said.
Officers responded to a barricade situation in the 3600 block of Pleasant Avenue around 9 a.m. When police arrived, they found a who was experiencing a mental health crisis.
Police advised the public to avoid the area while they investigated this incident.
According to NPD, the Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Operations Team responded to the scene, and following a brief period of negotiations the man was arrested around 11:30 a.m. without further incident. The man was transported to the hospital.
No one was injured during the incident.
