NORFOLK, Va. — Fire crews responded to a kitchen fire at the Downtown Norfolk restaurant Grain on Friday morning, officials said.
Captain and Acting Battalion Chief Stacy Himes says that Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to a report of a fire around 7:20 a.m.
Himes says that crews were directed to the 5th floor on 100 East Main Street. A kitchen fire had started and firefighters found a fire isolated to the gas range in the kitchen. The fire was marked under control around 7:30 a.m.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
The gas range was "red-tagged" and Himes said the restaurant would be closed until repaired. In a Facebook post on Friday morning, the restaurant said it would open at 12:30 p.m.
"Grain is ready for business!" the restaurant wrote on Facebook. "We experienced a small mechanical issue and it has been resolved."
