NORFOLK, Va. — The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult classic in every way.
The movie really wasn’t that popular right after its 1975 release. But that was before audiences started showing up to late-night screenings with props and costumes, yelling outlines and essentially playing along with the British pop opera.
It’s now the longest-running theatrical release in history, and for the last 42 years there is one local place known for its bi-monthly screenings- that’s Norfolk’s Naro Expanded Cinema on Colley Avenue.
They’ve been showing the film longer than almost every theater in the country.
The local group Fishnet Ink has been putting on a live show to go with the screenings for decades, too.
If you want to enjoy it for yourself, there is a showing this Friday, January 31 at 11:30 p.m.
