NORFOLK, Va. — Four people and their pet are without a home after a fire spread through a two-story house in Norfolk Wednesday evening, officials said.
The fire broke out at the home located on Chatham Circle near South Avenue just before 7 p.m. There was heavy smoke and flames coming from the first and second story of the home when Norfolk Fire-Rescue arrived.
Crews brought the fire under control by 7:40 p.m., officials said.
No one was inside the home during the time of the fire, according to a spokesperson for Norfolk Fire-Rescue, adding that no injuries were reported. The residents displaced are receiving help from the Red Cross.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
