Norfolk duplex fire leaves cat dead, residents without home

Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to a fire at the 1800 block of Woodall Road.

NORFOLK, Va. — One cat is dead and multiple residents have been displaced after a duplex in Norfolk caught fire on Wednesday, the Norfolk Fire-Rescue said.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded just after 1:40 p.m. to a reported blaze on Woodall Road near East Little Creek Road.

Officials say no residents or firefighters were injured but one cat died in the fire. The department said it did not know exactly how many residents were impacted but the Red Cross had been notified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
