New American Red Cross Blood and Platelet Donation Center opens in Norfolk

This new location comes just as the Red Cross is urging people to give blood or platelets to help those in need this holiday season.

NORFOLK, Va. — The American Red Cross has opened a new Blood & Platelet Donation Center in Norfolk.

It's at 601 Woodis Avenue, less than a mile away from its previous Brambleton Avenue location.

“We are beyond excited to welcome our valued donors from across the Coastal Virginia area to our new donor center in Norfolk,” Katie Niehoff, the executive director for the American Red Cross of Coastal Virginia, said in a news release. “This beautiful and convenient space reflects our commitment to our donors and the hospitals and patients we serve."

This new location comes just as the Red Cross is urging people to give blood or platelets to help those in need this holiday season.

The donation center held its last day of collection at its old location on Monday. Those interested in scheduling an appointment to donate either blood or platelets at the new Woodis Avenue location can do so online, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

You can also use the Red Cross Blood Donor app.
