NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to a structure fire on Spaulding Drive Monday night.
The fire was reported at 7:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Spaulding Drive. Crews found smoke and flames from three sides of the single-story home. A resident had already gotten out of the home prior to firefighters' arrival.
"Crews made an aggressive attack to knock down the flames perform their searches. Upon searching, they discovered a dog which did not survive the fire, despite resuscitation efforts," Battalion Chief Glen Williams stated.
Three adults and one child have been displaced and will be assisted by the Red Cross. No humans were injured, Williams said.
