9 displaced, 1 injured after apartment fire in Norfolk

NFR responded to an apartment fire in the 200 block of W. Ocean View Avenue.

NORFOLK, Va. — Nine residents have been displaced and one resident was injured after an apartment fire early Wednesday morning, Norfolk-Fire Rescue (NFR) said.

NFR responded to an apartment fire in the 200 block of W. Ocean View Avenue. When crews arrived they found a heavy fire coming from a two-story apartment.

Officials said the fire spread to an adjacent apartment and the fire was upgraded to a second-alarm fire.

Crews attacked the fire using hose lines and master streams from the ladder trucks. 

One resident was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One animal died in the fire. 

Multiple units were affected by the fire and nine people were displaced. The Red Cross has been notified.

Fire marshals are still investigating the cause of the fire.
