NORFOLK, Va. — More than 300 families got to bring home a turkey during an annual giveaway in Norfolk on Friday afternoon.
Ahead of Christmas, the Graves Family held the drive-up giveaway at Graves Funeral Home on Church Street. Their goal was to give back to the community for the holidays.
"During the Christmas spirit, it means so much to me to give back and see the smile on their faces, to just talk to the people, greet them," said Jason Graves with Graves Funeral Home.
The turkeys were distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Cars lined up to receive their turkey, with recipients telling 13News Now how thankful they are for this pre-Christmas tradition.
"With grocery prices being so high, it takes some of the pressure off of us," said one attendee. "It means alot for them to be here for us and really be here for our family."
"The community pours into us, so without them we're nothing. So, this is just a way for us to give back to them," said Graves. "Without them, we wouldn't be able to be here."
