Norfolk house fire leaves 3 displaced

NORFOLK, Va. — Three people were displaced after their house in Norfolk caught on fire Thursday morning.

The fire happened in the 3200 block of Bapaume Avenue, near the Lafayette area of the city. Crews responded around 11:30 a.m., according to Norfolk Fire-Rescue.

Firefighters arrived to smoke and flames in the living room area. They were able to extinguish the fire without it spreading much into the other parts of the home.

No one was hurt. Norfolk Fire-Rescue said working smoke detectors alerted a person who was napping at the time of the fire.

In addition to three residents, three pets were also displaced.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
