Woman dies in Newport News shooting

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are still investigating.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A woman is dead following a shooting in Newport News on Saturday night.

Officers were dispatched to the 12000 block of Nettles Drive at 8:11 p.m. in reference to a shooting, according to an online post. Police said they found 35-year-old Adrian Mary Dillard of Hampton inside a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Neighbors who did not want to appear on camera told 13News Now they heard what sounded like a "pop," but assumed it was kids playing during the Halloween weekend. 

There is no suspect information at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
