A woman was charged with DUI after police responded to a crash in Newport News early Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers responded to an accident with injuries around 3:25 a.m. near 16th Street and Ivy Avenue. There officers found a black SUV where medics were treating the driver, Jasmine Vaughn, 26, of Newport News.
A male passenger and a 2-year-old girl in a car seat was in the back of the SUV, police said.
Police said Vaughn had a "strong order of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her" and "confused as to where she was."
A sobriety test was administered by police.
Vaughn was arrested and charged with DUI and child abuse/neglect.
