NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A man has died after a pedestrian crash in Newport News Thursday morning, police say.
Newport News police say that around 4:35 a.m., they responded to 75th Street and River Road near Newport News Shipbuilding for a report of a pedestrian-involved vehicle crash.
When officers arrived they found an 81-year-old man who had been struck by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital where he then died around 6:20 a.m.
The driver remained on scene.
Newport News police say the investigation is ongoing.
