NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Newport News Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead.
On Saturday just before 8 pm, police were called to 35th Street and Roanoke Avenue for a report of shots fired.
When officers arrived they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Police said the man was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The victim was identified as 38-year-old Jave Irvin Edwards of Newport News.
There is no suspect information, according to police.
