NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — One man is dead and a man is charged with first-degree murder after a shooting in Newport News Friday.
Alfred Raymond Lattanzio, 42, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon, police said in a news release.
Newport News police were sent to the 700 block of J. Clyde Morris Boulevard in reference to a shooting at 5:23 p.m. Friday.
When police arrived they found a white man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 5:32 p.m. The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Randall Edward Dotson of the 700 block of J. Clyde Morris Blvd. in Newport News.
Police were able to arrest Lattanzio because of a quick response and cooperation of citizens on the scene.
The victim's name will not be released at this time, police said.
