NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News is hosting the NLightN Holiday Event Series, a celebration of the holiday season in lights, again this year.
The NLightN Holiday Event Series, pronounced "enlighten," started on Thanksgiving Day and will extend through New Year's Day.
The series includes three events, the Celebration in Lights at Newport News Park, the Lights at the Fountain at City Center and the ARTech Lights at Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center.
The Celebration in Lights
The event started Nov. 23 and will run until New Year's Day. From 5:30 to 10 p.m. every day, Newport News Park will be covered in over a million lights to produce a 2-mile-long light show. Tickets are $15 per car on weekdays and $18 per car Friday through Sunday.
Lights at the Fountain
This event begins on Saturday and will go on until New Year's Day. Holiday lights, decorations and a custom soundtrack will turn City Center at Oyster Point's five-acre fountain plaza into a winter wonderland.
The opening night's tree lighting will take place at 6:30 p.m. That evening, City Center will have live stage entertainment, seasonal gift vendors, an ice sculpting exhibition, face painters, food vendors, carnival games children's crafts and entertainers.
ARTech Lights
This event also begins on Saturday and goes on until New Year's Day. The light show event at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center will feature animated holiday shows synchronized to holiday carols on a 30-foot-tall tree. It takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. every half hour.
