NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A man was seriously injured in a shooting in Newport News Thursday night, police said.
The shooting happened in the 800 block of 35th Street, which is near the Jefferson area of the city. The Newport News Police Department said officers responded around 9:30 p.m. after ShotSpotter technology detected gunshots.
When the officers got there, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound. Medics took him to a hospital with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries.
According to the Newport News Police Department, there is no suspect information, but an investigation is ongoing.
