NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News police are investigating a burglary at a pawn shop on Jefferson Avenue Wednesday morning, officials said.
Officers were called to an "alarm activation" around 1:50 a.m. at Advanced Pawnbrokers, 13144 Jefferson Avenue.
The door to the store was open and officers notified the business owner. When a manager arrived they reported to police that watches were missing from an unlocked safe, officials said.
Police said a tire iron was used to open a locked door. Surveillance video showed a dark colored vehicle behind the pawn shop around 12:20 a.m., and a man approached the rear door.
Police are still investigating the incident.
