NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that happened Wednesday night.
According to police, the call for the crash came in around 9:03 p.m. It happened near the Jefferson Avenue overpass at Freedom Way.
Officers found a man dead in the roadway, and a preliminary investigation revealed he was a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.
The victim in the crash has been identified as 45-year-old Jose Dimas Brizeula-Rossell of Honduras.
The NNPD Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating what happened.
