Newport News police chief to hold community meetings in each precinct

The public meetings will give the community a chance to ask questions and raise concerns about safety in their neighborhood.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew is holding three community meetings in April.

The public events will give residents the opportunity to share concerns, make suggestions, and ask questions regarding community safety in the City of Newport News. Chief Drew and other officers will be the meeting.

“We need input on how we can better serve our community. We also need your help – help in establishing a partnership that fosters safety and security where you live and play,” said Chief Drew.  

The meetings are as follows:

  • South Precinct: April 17, 6 p.m., Downing Gross Cultural Ctr., 2410 Wickham Ave.
  • North Precinct: April 18, 6 p.m., Denbigh Community Ctr., 15198 Warwick Blvd.
  • Central Precinct: April 25, 6:30 p.m., Brittingham-Midtown Community Ctr., 570 McLawhorne Drive
