GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — A man has died after a pedestrian crash in Goochland County Thursday night, police said.
According to Virginia State Police (VSP), around 10 p.m., they were dispatched to a crash involving a dump truck and a pedestrian. Police say the collision happened westbound on Patterson Avenue near Westcreek Parkway in Goochland County.
VSP says Dennis Parton II of Newport News was working in a construction zone when a 2007 Kenworth Dump Truck, operated by a 47-year-old from Montross was pulling into the milling area of the construction zone.
When the truck was backing up, it struck Parton, who died at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
