NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Newport News Jefferson Lab hosted an event for lovers of science over the weekend.
The lab held a free open house on Saturday to celebrate the lab's 40th anniversary.
Attendees got the opportunity to explore the world-class research facility with many exhibits and hands-on activities. They also got to learn about supercomputers, nuclear physics research and more!
During the event, the lab also debuted its "Love-work" sculpture made out of repurposed materials from accelerator parts.
The eco-friendly installation was crafted by local lab scientists, engineers, welders and technicians as a powerful new symbol for the lab and active engagement with the community.
