NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The holiday season is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than a drive through twinkling light displays?

For its 31st season, Newport News is kicking off its annual Celebration in Lights Thanksgiving night, Nov. 23. The light show runs every night from 5:30 to 10 p.m. through Jan. 1, 2024.

Guests will pass through the woods and waterways of Newport News Park as more than one million lights illuminate the two-mile drive.

Among the typical light displays featuring animals and sea life, Newport News' new city logo and a 36-foot light display of the USS Newport News will be on show. The "Top Gun" awarded ship not only bears the city's name but was also built by Newport News Shipbuilding.

Admission is $15 per car on week nights, Monday through Thursday. Weekend rates are $18 per car. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or from the Newport News Visitor Center near the entrance of the park.
