NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A man was struck and killed by a passing vehicle following a fight on the side of Interstate 64 in Newport News Sunday evening, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.
The incident happened at around 6:30 p.m. when two drivers got into a dispute and stopped in the eastbound lanes of I-64 near Victory Boulevard. VSP said one of the drivers stepped outside his vehicle and was struck by a vehicle driving in the right travel lane.
The driver, who has not been publicly identified, was rushed to Riverside Regional Hospital where he ultimately died.
The driver who struck the man remained at the scene, according to police. The man involved in the fight, however, left before officers arrived.
