NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- The community on Wednesday got a chance to meet the new superintendent of Newport News, Doctor George Parker III. The school district held a welcome reception at Gildersleeve Middle School.
Dr. Parker currently serves as superintendent of Caroline County Public Schools.
He is a Hampton Roads native, who spent 23 years working for Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a teacher, coach, principal and assistant superintendent.
Parker has degrees from Norfolk State University and Virginia Tech, and he is a Navy veteran.
