NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Newport News Fire Department battled a house fire early Wednesday morning.
Newport News fire crews and Hampton Fire and Rescue were called to a "working residential structure fire" in the 2700 block of Oak Avenue.
Crews found smoke "showing from the front of the structure on Oak Avenue," the department said in a tweet.
The fire was contained to one room and three people were displaced.
No one was injured.
