Rear-end crash on I-64 in Newport News leaves 26-year-old dead, VSP says

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A 26-year-old was killed in a rear-end crash on Interstate 64 in Newport News Sunday evening, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.

The crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday at mile marker 250, according to VSP. Officials said a Chevrolet Silverado was going eastbound when it was rear-ended by a Volvo XC60.

The Silverado rolled over several times before it landed on its roof, leaving Morgan Johnson, 26, dead.

VSP identified the Volvo driver as Gregory Pugh Jr., 30, who wasn't injured in the crash. He has been charged with reckless driving.
